"BIRDS COME FIRST"
PARROT WEBSITE

The "BIRDS COME FIRST" Parrot Website has been a dream of mine for many years. I would like to offer the most up to date information that I can provide so that those of us who are owned by Companion Parrots can provide the best care that we possibly can to our feathered family members! At the same time, a realistic view of what it is like to live with parrots might be useful to those people who are only thinking about purchasing or adopting a feathered friend.

"BIRDS COME FIRST" is not the typical website as we do not try to give you the impression that living with one or more Companion Parrots is an easy thing to do. Once these beautiful and wonderful birds come to live with us, we do everything we can to adjust them to their new surroundings. At the same time, there are some difficult adjustments that we as human caregivers must be willing to make. The best thing for your avian friend is to be able to get the Love and Care it needs from YOU for the rest of his or her life! I am hoping that by reading the information on these pages that there may be one less parrot going to a Sanctuary or a Bird Rescue facility! It is with that in mind that I want to present a very realistic view of being owned by one of these glorious birds!

Please feel free to browse through this website. I will always attempt to bring you as much helpful information as I can. If you are truly thinking about being owned by a Companion Parrot you should browse through the pages of this website to really see what you are getting yourself into. I won't be "pulling any punches"!

Hi All, This is George! He was my first rescue! He was a mean little guy but with much nurturing, he became quite a sweety! Sadly at around fifteen years of age, George crossed over the "Rainbow Bridge". He is sorely missed!!

This Is Dory! This beautiful guy was badly abused. He has had his feet broken and a wing damaged by a previous owner. His plucking behavior is improving. He also was a terrible biter but now he allows me to give him kisses on his beak. Although still not comfortable outside the confines of his cage, Dory is becoming much more social.

I look forward to hearing from you if you ever have any questions about my experiences with my Companion Parrots!
